Now What? Details to Know Right After Your Session – St. Louis Photographer

by | Apr 14, 2022 | Information

YAY!!!  You are finished with your session!  And I’m sure everyone is exhausted–and I’m hoping a little excited as well!  I find that I tend to repeat the same information as we are leaving sessions, but I often forget some details.  So I want to make it easier for both of us by getting all the information you need written in a blog post!

FIRST THINGS FIRST

I hope you are kicking your feet up with some well-deserved ice cream or another fun treat!  It’s always a great feeling to land on the other side of a portrait session.  Let me tell you what I usually do right after photographing your session: 1. Treat my helper (if I had one along with me) to a Quick Trip slushee on the way home.  2.  Walk in my front door, give my kids a hug, and then immediately begin uploading the session images.  3.  Clean myself up while the images are uploading.  While you looked AMAZING for your pictures, I never do–which means I took some great pictures, but probably need a shower!  4. I love to post a quick preview of your session on Facebook within the first few days after my sessions if my schedule allows.  (Fall season leading up to Christmas is especially crazy, so I often fall behind on preview images posted.)  I will text you or email you if and when I get something posted so you can look for it!  (If you have asked me not to share on social media, I will of course honor this request!)

This is where you come in!  If you are on Facebook and/or Instagram, and you haven’t already done so, you are going to want to follow my pages!  Here is where you can go to follow along:

Also, because of Facebook algorithms for business pages specifically, I often can’t tag you if you are not friends with me on Facebook.  So you can you are more than welcome to tag yourself and anyone else who might want to be tagged on the post.

Click HERE to get to my personal Facebook page if you decide to be my Facebook friend!  As far as Instagram, I am hit or miss on that platform.  So you are welcome to follow along, but I often don’t post sessions there right away.

SHARING and REACH

One of the things I LOVE is when YOU love the image I post enough to share it with your friends and family.  A like or love, as well as a comment always makes me happy, and doing this helps with engagement on the post!  But to get the image in YOUR feed so YOUR friends and family can see it, all you need to do is click that SHARE button on the bottom right hand of the post.  So share away!

TIMELINE AFTER THE SESSION

Okay, session is finished, the sneak peak has been shared, now what?

There is a broad spectrum when it comes to photographers and editing and I want to share where I land.  I am a pretty detailed editor–which means I don’t make a few global adjustments, copy and paste, then export for a fast turn around.  I pull each and every image I choose for your final gallery through two different editing processes, artistically editing and getting into the details on each individual image.  I love the end result, and I promise it’s worth the time and effort!  Because of that, here is the general timeline for editing the different sessions I offer:

  • Regular Family/Senior/Engagement Sessions:  3 to 4 weeks
  • Extended Family Sessions: 4 to 5 weeks
  • Newborn Sessions:  3 weeks
  • Child Milestone Sessions:  2 weeks

Once I am nearing the finish line of editing your session, I will set up an appointment time for you and I to get together in person to view and order your images,  if we don’t have that on the calendar already.  To get a head start on preparing for that appointment, click HERE.  In fact, the sooner I get the wall pictures from your home, the faster I can get everything set up for your appointment!

That sums it up!   Hopefully I’ll see you soon on social media–and of course I can’t wait for the big reveal a little later when you get to see the gallery of ALL your final portraits!

Blessings,

Amy
